Brother Meinrad Eugster
1848- 1925, Venerable Servant of God
As a monk of the Swiss Benedictine Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln, Brother Meinrad Eugster lived a life hidden from the eyes of the world. But those who knew him well saw him already during his lifetime as a Saint.
He remained in the memory of those who had met him long after his death on June 14th, 1925, a mere 40 years after which Pope John XXIII bestowed the title of “Venerable Servant of God” to him. He is already an inspiration to countless people and works for us in Heaven by his intercessions, but for his beatification the attribution of a verified miracle is still needed.
This website will provide you with more information about the Life and Message of Brother Meinrad for the Memorial Year of 2025, which will celebrate the 100th anniversary of his repose. You will also find suggestions for prayers as well as updates regarding his Beatification Process.
The Community of the Monks of Benedictine Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln hopes this website will serve as an inspiration to many for their own prayer life through the faithfulness shown in the life of Brother Meinrad Eugster.
If you carry a particular intention in your heart for which you would like to ask the intercession of Brother Meinrad, we invite you to the following prayer:
Most Holy Lord and God,
I thank You for the Life of Brother Meinrad,
which mirrors a reflection
of Your own Sanctity.
His hidden life as a Monk of the
Benedictine Abbey of Maria Einsiedeln,
radiates with the virtues of
Trust, Humility, Devotion, Fidelity,
Patience, Gratitude, Simplicity, Stability,
and Contentment.
His example illuminates the way to my own sanctity
through the imitation of
the Life of Your Son Jesus Christ.
Grant O Lord, that Brother Meinrad
may soon be venerated as one of Your Beatified,
and in Your endless mercy,
grant my intention for which I pray to You
with all my faith and hope.
Amen.
