To mark the centennial of the death of Brother Meinrad Eugster in 2025, the Swiss multimedia production company “Schwarzfalter” was commissioned by the monks of Einsiedeln Abbey to produce a documentary and a short film on the life and message of the Venerable Servant of God. The two films are mostly in German, but with English subtitles.

Documentary

The 50-minute documentary “Brother Meinrad. A Life for Eternity” features numerous people who are connected to the Venerable Servant of God in different ways. The team of filmmakers carefully approaches the mystery of this simple monk of Einsiedeln Abbey minute by minute. The re-enacted scenes from the daily life of Brother Meinrad at the monastery, combined with the contemporary footage of the Benedictine Abbey of Our Lady of Einsiedeln transfigure this documentary into a first-class cinematic- and religious work of art:

The 6-minute-long film presents some of the core elements of the message of Brother Meinrad in an artistically high-quality way. The focus is on the turbulent times in which Brother Meinrad lived – in times not unlike our own. Yet in the midst of the upheavals of that era, Brother Meinrad was able to maintain an inner peace that still radiates today - a peace that we too can experience, if we allow ourselves to be inspired through the testimony of the life and faith of Brother Meinrad:
